1. Who we are

SalDestiny is a travel and local information platform focused on Sal Island, Cabo Verde. This Privacy Policy explains how SalDestiny processes personal data when you visit saldestiny.com, use its pages and services, contact us, submit information, create or use an account where available, or listen to SalDestiny Radio through our web player.

For the purposes of applicable data protection law, SalDestiny is the controller of the personal data described in this policy, except where a third-party provider acts as an independent controller.

2. Scope of this policy

This policy applies to the main SalDestiny website and to pages hosted under the saldestiny.com domain, including the SalDestiny Radio player at saldestiny.com/saldestinyradio/saldestiny-radio-player-v4.html.

Third-party websites, social networks, booking platforms, streaming services and other external services linked from SalDestiny have their own privacy practices. We recommend reviewing their policies before providing personal data to them.

3. Personal data we may collect

Information you provide directly

Depending on how you use SalDestiny, you may provide information such as:

• Your name, email address and telephone number.
• The content of enquiries, messages, feedback or support requests.
• Business, accommodation, activity or listing information that you ask us to publish or manage.
• Account, registration or subscription information where those functions are available.
• Any other information you choose to include in a form or communication.

Information collected automatically

When you access the website, our systems and authorised service providers may process technical and usage information, including:

• IP address and approximate location derived from it.
• Browser type, device type, operating system and language.
• Referring page, pages visited, date and time of access and interaction data.
• Cookie identifiers and similar online identifiers, where permitted.
• Security, diagnostic, performance and server log information.
• Information about how you navigate and interact with the website, subject to your cookie choices.

Behavioural analytics data

If you consent to analytics technologies, Microsoft Clarity may collect interaction information such as clicks, scrolling, mouse or touch movements, navigation paths, page rendering, time spent on pages and other behavioural metrics.

Clarity may use this information to produce heatmaps and session replays that help us understand how visitors interact with the website. A session replay is a technical reconstruction of website interactions; it does not use your device’s camera or microphone.

SalDestiny does not intentionally use Clarity to collect passwords, payment details or the content of private communications.

SalDestiny Radio interaction data

If you consent to advertising and measurement cookies in the radio player, the Meta Pixel may record the following events:

• PageView: the radio player page was viewed.
• RadioPlay: playback was started.
• Listen30Seconds: playback continued for at least 30 seconds.
• Listen3Minutes: playback continued for at least 3 minutes.

These events are intended to measure advertising performance and audience engagement. The radio implementation does not intentionally send the title of the song being played to Meta.

4. Why we use personal data and our legal bases

We may process personal data for the following purposes:

• To respond to enquiries and provide requested services: to take steps at your request, perform a contract or pursue our legitimate interest in communicating with users and local businesses.
• To operate accounts, listings and subscriptions: to perform a contract, take pre-contractual steps or manage a service you have requested.
• To operate, maintain and secure the website: based on our legitimate interests in providing a reliable service, preventing abuse, diagnosing faults and protecting our systems.
• To understand website use: with your consent where required, including through Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity.
• To improve usability and content: to identify navigation problems, understand how visitors interact with pages and improve the structure and performance of SalDestiny.
• To measure and optimise advertising: with your consent, including through the Meta Pixel and related cookies.
• To understand search visibility: by reviewing search performance, indexing and crawling information provided through Bing Webmaster Tools.
• To comply with legal obligations and protect legal rights: where processing is required by law or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before it was withdrawn.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

SalDestiny uses cookies and similar technologies for essential functions and, subject to your choices, for analytics, behavioural analysis and advertising measurement.

Optional technologies should not be activated until the required consent has been obtained. Depending on your choices, these technologies may include Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and the Meta Pixel.

6. Meta Pixel

SalDestiny uses the Meta Pixel, identified in our implementation as Pixel ID 1624936025915155, on the SalDestiny Radio player after the visitor accepts optional advertising and measurement cookies.

The Pixel is a technology provided by Meta that helps us understand whether an advertisement led to a visit or listening action and helps us measure and improve campaigns.

When activated, information such as the page visited, event name, date and time, browser and device information, IP address and Meta cookie identifiers such as _fbp or _fbc may be transmitted to Meta. Meta may combine this information with other information it holds, in accordance with its own terms and privacy policy.

Depending on the processing concerned, Meta may act as our processor, as an independent controller or, for certain collection and transmission activities, as a joint controller under Meta’s applicable Business Tools terms.

7. Google Analytics

Where enabled and where you have provided any consent required by law, SalDestiny may use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the website.

Google Analytics may process a browser or client identifier, pages and events, device and browser information, approximate location and interaction data. Google may use cookies including _ga and cookies beginning with _ga_.

8. Microsoft Clarity and Bing Webmaster Tools

Where enabled and subject to your consent choices, SalDestiny uses Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with the website.

Clarity may collect and process:

• Pages visited and navigation paths.
• Clicks, scrolling and mouse or touch interactions.
• Time spent on pages and general engagement information.
• Browser, operating system, device and screen information.
• IP address and approximate location.
• Website performance, diagnostic and page-rendering information.
• Cookie identifiers and other pseudonymous identifiers.

This information may be used to create behavioural metrics, heatmaps and session replays. We use these functions to identify usability problems, understand which content visitors find useful and improve SalDestiny’s navigation and performance.

Microsoft Clarity may use first-party and third-party cookies and similar technologies. These technologies are treated as optional and should only operate in accordance with the visitor’s consent choices where consent is required.

SalDestiny also uses Bing Webmaster Tools to understand how the website appears and performs in Bing search results. Information provided through this service may include search queries, impressions, clicks, indexing status, crawl activity and technical website diagnostics.

Website ownership may be verified for Bing Webmaster Tools through a verification code, plugin, file or DNS record. This verification is separate from the behavioural analytics carried out through Microsoft Clarity.

9. Who may receive personal data

We may disclose personal data only where necessary to:

• Hosting, content delivery, security and technical support providers.
• Email, form, account, subscription or business-listing service providers used to deliver requested functions.
• Analytics providers such as Google, where enabled and consented to.
• Behavioural analytics and search-performance providers such as Microsoft, where enabled and subject to the applicable consent requirements.
• Advertising and measurement providers such as Meta, where consented to.
• Professional advisers, public authorities or courts where required by law or necessary to protect legal rights.
• A successor organisation in connection with a legitimate business transfer, subject to appropriate safeguards.

SalDestiny does not sell personal data for money.

10. International data transfers

Some providers, including Google, Microsoft and Meta, may process data outside your country or outside the European Economic Area.

Where applicable, we rely on safeguards recognised by data protection law, such as an adequacy decision, standard contractual clauses or another valid transfer mechanism.

You should also review the international transfer information published by each relevant provider.

11. How long we keep personal data

We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including:

• Enquiries and correspondence: for the time needed to respond and manage any resulting relationship or legal issue.
• Account, subscription and listing information: while the service or relationship remains active and afterwards for any period required for administrative, contractual or legal purposes.
• Security and technical logs: for a limited period appropriate to security, diagnostics and fraud prevention.
• Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and advertising data: according to our configured settings, consent choices and the retention periods applied by the relevant provider.
• Search-performance data: for the period made available through Bing Webmaster Tools or for as long as reasonably necessary to analyse website visibility and technical performance.
• The radio player’s optional-cookie choice: normally for up to 180 days, unless you delete it earlier.

We may retain limited information for longer where required by law or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

12. Your data protection rights

Subject to the law that applies to you, you may have the right to:

• Request access to your personal data.
• Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Request deletion of your data.
• Request restriction of processing.
• Object to processing based on legitimate interests or to direct marketing.
• Receive certain data in a portable format.
• Withdraw consent at any time where consent is the legal basis.

You may also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority competent for your place of residence, work or the alleged infringement. Where Spanish data protection law applies, this may include the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD).

13. Children

SalDestiny’s general website content may be viewed by a broad audience, but our forms and commercial services are not intended to collect personal data knowingly from children who cannot validly provide it under applicable law.

If you believe a child has submitted personal data without the required authorisation, please contact us so that we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

14. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.

We also review the configuration of analytics and advertising services to reduce unnecessary collection and respect visitors’ consent choices. However, no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our services, technologies, providers or legal obligations change. The date at the top indicates the latest revision.

Material changes may also be highlighted on the website where appropriate.
